Michelle's Thoughts

BIKE TRIP 2002!!!!! AMAZING!! I couldn’thave done it without any of my fellow bikers!! You guys are truly a blessing inmy life!! THANKS for everything!

DAY 1~ I think it was Ali, Meredith,Kristin, and me…but we were walking into the field museum when two of the boyswalked out and told us they couldn’t use the bathroom! My first thought wasthat this was going to be a bad way to start the first hall. But of course usgirls were able to get into one!! I was ready after that! I don’t know what Iwas worrying about the whole week before!??? The lakeside was soooo beautiful!!The whole time I kept thinking about how much I want to live in the city when Igrow up. But then again, the people weren’t quite as friendly...how many hi’sdid you get merdith? Later in the afternoon, the soccer game was a blast!! Itwas kind of nice running around and not being on your butt…even though thosekids wore me out!! Later that evening, I thorouly enjoyed listening to Brianand David play guitar (especially with the shirts on their heads!) Kristin-thanks for the walks to the bathroom! We still have more to talk about!!…..inthe end…awesome day to start the trip!

DAY 2~ Rise and shine…because“any dream will do!” Wearing those shirts made me so incredibly motivated!!Even though I was just a little sore! Buy the time we got to the nursing home Ifelt like we should have been done!! But no! I loved singing the songs with theold people!! I saw so much happiness in all of them! Even though David and Istruggled a little!..what can ya do? By the time we got to the campsite I wasbeat! But definitely ready for a swim!! The pool was so relaxing well… exceptfor when Brian would splash every two minutes. As Liz would say, “The bathroomsare like hotels!” And they were close to camp so Kristin and I didn’t get asmuch gabbing done. Singing in the girls’ tent was fun (good thing we had thesteaks that night)! I have some funny pictures of Karl!! I think we foundourselves another ice breaker for next year, I know Mr. Sladkey will enjoy it….I like how we took a walk for about 3 minutes before we ended up back at the site!

DAY3~ Definitely exhausted today!! I don’t even know how many times I woke up fromthe rain! But Aaron quoted joy ride and I was ready to start the day! All I really remember about this day was being so tired! Well maybe b/c we rode 18miles once when we were told it was about 13! Oh yeah… Shawn, Ali, Kristin andI sang on the ride before lunch! We thought 100 bottles of milk on the wallwould get us to the stop, but not quite. Hey, now I can say that I have sungthe whole song all the way through! Dinner was awesome!! I love having thepeople cheering for us when we rode in! I had fun staying with the Toonensagain! Thanks for the nail poilsh Selena!! It’s still on two weeks later!!….Ifinally had a good nights sleep!

DAY 4~ Breakfast was awesome!! There wassoooo much! I LOVED the chocolate chip muffins and the bread! Yummy!! This dayflew by!! There were some awesome down hills!! Thanks for the stories PJ!!Lunch was fun..Good thing we found that giraffe! I can’t believe we stopped ina town that Houdini stayed in! We played an awesome game of ultimate! Mr.Sladkey and I enjoyed watching Aaron run back and forth!  Later, when we got to the campsite, us girlswere on a mission to get the tent up as fast as we could..Too bad we couldn’tfind the stakes! Showering in the lake was fun! Lake Geneva is so beautiful inthe evening. I loved smashing into the budget van to go for dinner! THANKS SOMUCH CHANDLERS FOR PAYING!!!!! (even though PJ already had it figured out!) Theice cream was so good!! I liked watching the boys get excited every time a nicecar drove by!!  Getting to sleep thatnight was rather difficult…first my pillow was nowhere to be found but theboys’ tent! Then Aaron was discussing space figures in the tent and then whenhe came to lay outside, with Ali, Shawn, and I, breathing techniques.

DAY 5~ CANOING! Everyone went fast on thefirst 17 miles we were so excited to canoe! Well before we left, Karl said, “Iam really good at steering” Too bad Kristin and I were so far ahead; we missedhim and Brian tip!! Finally in the afternoon they got good. Lunch was yummy!…thanks for making my trip to the bathroom entertaining Aaron! The Tarzan ropewas soooo much fun!! (well not so much for Shawn). We finally got to theSladkey Cottage after going down some pretty busy roads after canoeing! Thewater was nice… it got a little rough on the raft after a while! I hope Karl’stoe is ok. And Brian had a blast on the floaty thing! Sharing stories thatnight was really interesting…Meredith feels comfortable ripping oneveryone…especially me! Sleeping on the beach was so fun, minus the bugs!!! Ihope everyone enjoyed their back rubs well…I didn’t get around to Liz or Davidand Karl was asleep as soon as we got down there. Even though he was asking allof us if we were going!!..Last thoughts of the night “What a Blast!”

DAY 6~ I think we rode almost 40 milesbefore we stopped for lunch! And we had a few delays. I like I how I rodestraight into a pole! It was classic! And I hope Mr. Decaluwae is ok.! Twoflats in one day and none the rest of the trip!! Funway Park was a blast! Thanks for spinning me around Jenny; you got me back from the fall! I can’tbelieve we made it home! The week went by so fast!!

Thanks Mrs. Hilger and Mr.& Mrs.Chandler! We couldn’t have done it without you!!
